Dr. David Baggett
Board Certified Family Medicine Physician
Dr. David Baggett has been helping people in the Summerville, South Carolina area live healthier, happier lives since 1980. Growing up in McCormick, South Carolina, he found a mentor in Dr. Brown, the doctor of record for the town of 1,200 – and its high school football team. Inspired by his personal connection to each and every patient, David followed in his mentor’s footsteps, earning his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in 1977. He completed his three-year residency in Family Medicine at MUSC, serving at Chief Resident his senior year.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Baggett plays an active role in his community, serving as team physician for the Summerville High School football team since 1986. He also formed a local chapter of the Indian Health Initiative, a national non-profit organization meeting the health needs of Native Americans in Dorchester County.
Dr. Baggett maintains strong relationships with many area hospitals and is one of the few family practice physicians in the state that provides in-patient care to his patients at the Summerville Medical Center. He is the current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Trident Health System, which has oversight over both the Trident Medical Center and the Summerville Medical Center.
On the weekends, you’ll find Dr. Baggett spending time with his family. A growing number of grandchildren encourages him to be the Activity Director!
