With more than 50 combined years experience, we have the knowledge and expertise to handle everything from minor injuries to major diseases. We're grateful for the long-term relationships we've built with our patients and love watching them grow. Dr. David Baggett
Board Certified Family Medicine Physician
Dr. David Baggett has been helping people in the Summerville, South Carolina area live healthier, happier lives since 1980. Growing up in McCormick, South Carolina, he found a mentor in Dr. Brown, the doctor of record for the town of 1,200 – and its high school football team. Inspired by his personal connection to each and every patient, David followed in his mentor’s footsteps, earning his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in 1977. He completed his three-year residency in Family Medicine at MUSC, serving at Chief Resident his senior year.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Baggett plays an active role in his community, serving as team physician for the Summerville High School football team since 1986. He also formed a local chapter of the Indian Health Initiative, a national non-profit organization meeting the health needs of Native Americans in Dorchester County.
Dr. Baggett maintains strong relationships with many area hospitals and is one of the few family practice physicians in the state that provides in-patient care to his patients at the Summerville Medical Center. He is the current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Trident Health System, which has oversight over both the Trident Medical Center and the Summerville Medical Center.
On the weekends, you’ll find Dr. Baggett spending time with his family. A growing number of grandchildren encourages him to be the Activity Director!
Dr. Ellen Sanders
Family Physician
Dr. Ellen Sanders is a family physician who strives to provide personalized and comprehensive care to every patient.
Dr. Sanders is a native of Gainesville, Georgia.  She attended Pomona College in Claremont, CA where she received her B.A. in English.  Knowing it was time to move back to the South, she next attended Duke University School of Medicine, where she earned her M.D.  She went on to complete her residency in family medicine at MUSC and Trident hospitals.  Having found many reasons to love the Charleston area while a resident (including meeting her husband here!), she decided to start her career as a family physician at Summerville Primary Care.
Dr. Sanders provides quality, evidence-based care to patients of all ages and is particularly interested in women's health and hospital medicine.  Along with Dr. Baggett, she cares for the clinic's patients when they are admitted to Summerville Medical Center.
