Dr. David Baggett
Board Certified Family Medicine Physician
Dr. David Baggett has been helping people in the Summerville, South Carolina area live healthier, happier lives since 1980. Growing up in McCormick, South Carolina, he found a mentor in Dr. Brown, the doctor of record for the town of 1,200 – and its high school football team. Inspired by his personal connection to each and every patient, David followed in his mentor’s footsteps, earning his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in 1977. He completed his three-year residency in Family Medicine at MUSC, serving at Chief Resident his senior year.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Baggett has played an active role in his community, having served as team physician for the Summerville High School football team from 1986 to 2014. He also was instrumental in the formation of the Indian Health Initiative, a non-profit organization meeting the health needs of Native Americans in Dorchester County.
Dr. Baggett maintains strong relationships with many area hospitals and is one of the few family practice physicians in the state that provides in-patient care to his patients at the Summerville Medical Center. He is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Trident Health System, which has oversight over both the Trident Medical Center and the Summerville Medical Center.
We take pride in that we are a truly independent practice. We are not owned by a corporation or controlled by any hospital. This allows us to make decisions about the patient's care freely, while always keeping their best interests at heart.
Among one of his many interests is performing dermatological surgeries, including procedures to excise skin cancers. He also enjoys helping his patients feel better about their appearance as well as their underlying health. It was a natural extension for him to offer aesthetic services. He is certified in Botox and hyaluronic acid filler techniques.
On the weekends, you’ll find Dr. Baggett spending time with his family. A growing number of grandchildren encourage him to be the Activity Director!
